I noticed when you're viewing someone's profile, there's a space for their "favorite link" to some other website. I saw that I hadn't put one in, and supposed I just could 'cause I was...bored? Yeah. Anyway, there's not a spot in your profile to put it.

...any, uh...reason for this?

The reason is that I know how to put text on a page, but as far as input boxes that WORK....I don't know. But in the new version, there is a place to do it...as well as all kinds of other personal information that you may optionally volunteer.
