The-Spot.Net is now 5 years old

by Neo » 13 Apr 2008, 14:25

As of yesterday, April 12th, the-spot.net is now 5 years old!

I thought about doing something special for it, but never found enough time to actually get something together.

Anyways...here's to 5 years :beerchug:

Wow....5 years old? Seriously?? That's crazy...

I've been a member of the-spot.net since like..oh, it was sometime in the fall/winter or 2003, I think maybe right before Halloween 2003. Wow. All those times I used to stay up until like, 7am, chatting with Neo and UPS and stuff. Crazy crazy. How quickly times goes by sometimes.

that is a long time and the spot and its members really have changed in these 5 years.

Btw, I like the layout and background design. I haven't seen it till today...I dont know if u changed it recently or i just couldn't see it, but I like it. Looks good.
Smile for the camera! :D

I changed it a long time ago - but I didn't force anyone to change their theme until after I got (at least some parts of) the My Spot page working. That way people don't click the link I posted in the thread ( http://www.the-spot.net/myspot ) only to get an error message because I've designed that page only for the tsn.7 version, not SubSilver.

So, thank you.

The-spot.net may be 5 years old, but I can honestly say that TSN has been in labor for at least an additional 2½ years before its birth (geez, I'd hate to be that mother...Neo :P), and I've practically been there since the very beginning with Neo ^___^

....wait...does that mean I'm the father then and Neo is the mother? o_O ooooo creepy thought!

/me will never udder those words again *shudder*

Haha, no I believe in situations where it's project creation, the creator is the father....just as God is the father...and The Architect is the Father of the Matrix.

So that makes you my smurfette, sir.

You're right though, it has been in the works for 2.5 years ahead of that. And if all is told, it's been in the works even before I got to ETBU - since I had come there with a vision of creating an Instant Messenger for the campus (which ended up as a website) because I had written an Instant Messenger for the TI-83 calculators in High School. So if you want to take it back to that...it's about 10 years old.

(I can't believe that was 10 years ago)

I think you should change the name now from "the-spot" to "the-place" or "el-spoto" just tp spice it up

Heh, I don't think that's ever going to happen - there is already a "brand" associated with "the-spot.net"...and you can't change mid-stream.

See what happened to Rebock? they go by RBK now...and they're not even known for the shoes and equipment they produce.

what's wrong with 'the-spot.net' anyway? i've always thought it was perfect in its simplicity.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

However, I do tend to want more from time to time, and try to add more things - usually peripherals though.
